A Current Affair viewers have been left in hysterics over a hilarious proposed change to Channel Nine’s flagship current affairs show.

Double Bay Today shared a satirical post on Instagram joking that the famous Australian show would be renamed ‘A Karen Affair’ in honor of its audience.

They claimed that the show’s current host, Allison Langdon, would be replaced by “a real Karen”, a slang term used to describe a demanding or entitled middle-aged woman.

Mocking those who loyally watch ACA on a regular basis, the satirical news ad said the change was to “simply focus on our existing audience.”

The tongue-in-cheek post featured a fun mockup of the “new” ACA logo and the host, “local discount coupon enthusiast Karen O’Neill.”

In a savage attack on ACA, the caption hilariously joked: “Starting next week, ACA will be known as AKA, or ”A Karen Affair”.”

“The show’s editorial direction is expected to focus solely on issues affecting white, Volvo-driving women between the ages of 40 and 60 who live in three-bedroom homes in the suburbs.”

They also shared fictional quotes from Rick Myer, a fictional character whose name was apparently inspired by real-life former Network 10 producer Rick Maier.

One said: “Our program is popular with white, titled, middle-aged women who complain a lot to retail staff.”

ACA viewers quickly took to the comments section to share their hilarious reactions to the satirical news announcement.

One joked: “As a Karen, I support this,” while another commented: “I’d like to speak to Nine’s manager.”

A third commented: “Funny,” and a fourth joked: “Check.”

Allison recently responded to criticism from people who “don’t like” ACA while accepting an award at the 2024 Logie Awards.

She was recognized for her presenting role earlier this year when she won the Silver Logie for Best News or Public Affairs Presenter.

He beat ABC’s David Speers and Sarah Ferguson, Channel Nine’s Liz Hayes and Peter Overton and Seven’s Michael Usher to take home the esteemed gong.

During her acceptance speech, Allison paid tribute to her predecessor Tracy Grimshaw and responded to people who “don’t like” the news show.

“For Trace, who I love, she’s the one who always says that people who don’t like our show don’t know it,” he said.

‘To Mike Munro, Ray Martin and To everyone who has played this role, thank you.”

Taking home the award in August, Allison also said she puts her “heart and soul” into her work and shared her pride in taking home the Silver Logie.

“When you listen to all (the nominees), you definitely don’t expect yours to be the one,” he began.

‘Everything we do is with heart and soul. If a story doesn’t have heart and soul, we just don’t do it.

“I look at those who sat in this chair before me, and even my father-in-law (Mike Willesee), who started this program.

“It would be wonderful if I could have seen the family connection and how it developed.”

Allison joined the Nine Network show in early 2023 after leaving the Today show following a three-year stint.
