A Gold Coast football club has been left in shock after a player unexpectedly collapsed during a football match on Tuesday night.
The player, aged over 50, is fighting for his life after his health worsened moments before kick-off at Musgrave Park. He was moments away from playing an over-50s game.
Legends Football Club Gold Coast president Sam Indelicato provided further information on the incident.
“I understand that he felt bad, approached the band and collapsed,” he said.
“When he fell, within a minute or two we had a defibrillation machine and someone was doing CPR.”

An ambulance was called to the scene at approximately 6.55pm and the player was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital. He is in critical condition and fighting for his life.
The man lives alone on the Gold Coast and is a popular figure at the club where he is a long-time member and regularly attends first team matches.
‘His family lives in the UK, but everyone here is worried about him. The club is here for him,” said Indelicato.
“We all want him to recover as soon as possible, we are all rallying around him.”
