Saturday Night Live star Heidi Gardner says she and her spouse Zeb Wells have broken up.
The 40-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, native made the personal revelation on The Liz Moody Podcastas she said she “went through the end of a relationship” in reference to Webb, 46, with whom she exchanged vows in 2010.
Gardner said using the phrase “end” seemed “strange” when discussing the split with Wells, a Marvel Comics writer, whom he did not refer to by name or specify when they broke up.
Gardner said he knows “that person will always be in my life and will transform in a different way.”
Gardner, who has been a cast member of the NBC comedy staple since 2017, made it seem like she and her ex-spouse were on friendly terms, as she said she still has “all the love and respect in the world” for the person in question. .

“It was just a period of a couple of years of transition, pain, hope, loss and all those things,” Gardner said. “But I will say that during that time I feel like I never wasted a day getting to know myself, becoming a better version of myself and becoming a better friend and future partner, I think.”
Gardner said he learned valuable lessons from the painful life experience, calling it “a really cool payoff for something that was very painful and uncomfortable.”
She said her inner circle of friends was essential amid this difficult time.
“I will say the most important thing I learned in that time is to lean on the women in your life and your girlfriends,” Gardner said. “I already had amazing friends and family, but I’ll just say the women showed up in an amazing way.”
Gardner said her inner circle made it clear that from now on, her “romantic partner…does not need to be her emotional support.”
“Often the women in my life just know better things to say and better ways to love and care for me in some of those moments.”
Gardner, who has also worked extensively as a voice actor on shows such as SuperMansion, Alien News Desk and Bratz, said it’s important for friends to be there for each other during difficult times.
“We all know that no matter what kind of relationships you have with your partner one day, you will love them more than anything and praise them to your friends,” Gardner said. And some days they will feel like your worst enemy and you will curse them in front of your friends.

Gardner said she works hard to make her friends feel comfortable talking to her about their own romantic problems.
