Wesley Sneijder does not understand that Ron Jans chose to sideline his attackers against Go Ahead Eagles. According to the record international, you call the equalizer on yourself.
“I had a slight irritation about that at the end of the game. I really mean that. Then they are 1-0 up and they come under a bit of pressure and then he will take out all his attackers who can still make the difference”, Sneijder starts at Veronica Offiside. “If you take that out, you’re going to walk back even more. So you get even more pressure.”
“And it also means that if it does fall 1-1, you can’t do anything anymore. Because then you have no one left,” continues Sneijder. “If you are still on the field with those players, you can still make it 2-1 after that 1-1. Especially with the stadium behind it.”
Sneijder therefore does not understand Ron Jans’ choices. “I don’t understand that about the trainers. We cannot defend 1-0 in the Netherlands. We don’t have that mentality. We Dutch have to keep moving forward. From that goal.”
