Snapchat ‘rapist’ is said to have attacked woman before posting a sick video of an attack on social media

Snapchat’s ‘rapist’ allegedly attacked a woman while drunk before posting a sick video of a social media attack

  • The Brisbane man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman after she was passed out
  • It is also alleged that the man subsequently posted a video of the alleged incident on Snapchat
  • He has been released on bail provided he does not contact witnesses

A Brisbane man reportedly filmed herself after she was passed out by sexually assaulting a drunk woman, then posted the shot on social media.

The 21-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied the rape allegation filed Friday after allegedly sending the video through the messaging app Snapchat.

He was charged with making a recording in violation of privacy law and distributing a banned recording of the woman, also 21, who was known to him.

“They are very serious allegations – allegedly the defendant raped the victim while she was unconscious due to drunkenness and it was filmed,” prosecutor Ben Michelle told Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

“He admits to having made the film, but denies the rape allegation.”

Mr. Michelle opposed the man’s bail request, saying that the case was strong and that he might receive a prison sentence, but the magistrate disagreed and released the man before appearing again in court.

“There was consensual sex beforehand. She’s drunk. He’s drunk … and incredibly stupid … it has had some spread on Snapchat, ‘said magistrate Noel Nunan when he agreed to release the man.

The bail conditions of the man include not contacting five witnesses, who are between 19 and 21 years old.

He will appear before the same court on August 10.
