The Los Angeles Dodgers’ NLCS game against the New York Mets was interrupted by an unwanted guest in their dugout at Dodgers Stadium.
A snake was found slithering on the top step of the Dodgers dugout during Game 2 of the National League finals Monday afternoon.
Pitcher Brent Honeywell was walking back to the dugout when he saw the reptile and pointed it out to his team. The stream then captured the snake as it tried to get out of the players’ view.
Shortly after, a staff member picked him up with a towel and put him away while the game continued.
“We’ve had ‘Snakes on a Plane,’ ‘Snakes on a Train,’ and the latest Hollywood hit, ‘Snake in the Dugout,'” the commentary team joked.
A snake invaded the dugout on Monday when the Dodgers lost Game 2 of the National League Championship Series to the Mets.
Fans took to social media with different jokes, linking the snake to various MLB personalities.
“I’m so tired of all the Ken Rosenthal time on camera,” one fan joked, referring to the controversial baseball writer.
“This is just Dave Roberts standing on the top step,” another said of the Dodgers manager.
The Astros planted him there!!! Don’t forget,” wrote a third.
Other users noted the sighting as a negative omen, which was reflected in the outcome, as the Mets posted a 7-3 victory over the Dodgers to tie the series at 1-1.
Francisco Lindor and Mark Vientos homered as the Mets ended the Dodgers’ record scoreless streak in the postseason.
The Mets tied the National League Championship Series with a 7-3 victory after losing 9-0 in Game 1 on Sunday night.
Lindor extended his storybook season with a leadoff home run in the first inning against Ryan Brasier. Viento delivered during New York’s five-run second, connecting for a grand slam against Landon Knack.
Before Lindor went deep, Los Angeles was on a streak of 33 consecutive shutout innings. Jack Flaherty led the Dodgers to a 9-0 victory in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday night.
Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and two walks. He remains hitless with the bases empty in his first postseason.
Game three of the best-of-seven series is Wednesday in New York.
