Terrifying footage captured the moment a snake catcher pulled a huge python from the roof of a house and discovered the reptile had killed a possum and the animal’s baby.

Video of the moment the huge 2.6m carpet python was pulled from a light hole in the roof of a house in Brisbane on Wednesday was uploaded to the Snake Catchers Brisbane and Gold Coast Facebook page.

The horrified homeowner watched as snake catcher Steph bravely removed the huge reptile.

He realized that something was obstructing his efforts to remove the python from the ceiling and began removing parts of the ceiling in an attempt to create more space.

To his surprise, he found a female opossum stuck on the roof after being killed by the snake.

As Steph began to pull the possum out of the ceiling in an attempt to remove the snake, she discovered the animal’s baby.

The homeowner gasped as the baby animal lay limp in Steph’s hands.

He continued to tear off more parts of the ceiling while the possum’s leg continued to hang from the ceiling.

“Oh, that’s huge,” the hostess whispered softly.

Finally, Steph managed to create enough space on the roof and successfully removed the huge snake.

Then, the possum landed on the ground with a loud thud.

“Oh my God, sir,” exclaimed the owner of the house.

Steph untangled the python as the shocked owner and his daughter watched in horror.

Steph then placed the snake inside a large beige bag before putting the possum inside.

The python was later released into the wild.
