Chelsea’s top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal was delayed 30 minutes after the Gunners brought in the wrong color socks.

The clash at Stamford Bridge was due to start at 7pm, but it was announced there would be a short delay due to a kit clash minutes before the scheduled start time.

Arsenal are understood to have brought white socks instead of red, resulting in a clash with Chelsea.

Both teams’ white socks were part of their home kits, but with Chelsea as hosts, Arsenal had to change colour.

The Gunners will now wear Chelsea’s away socks, but were forced to put tape over the Nike logo. The Gunners confirmed they paid for the socks themselves.

Arsenal are sponsored by Nike’s rival Adidas, so they cannot display the Chelsea kit manufacturer’s logo. Chelsea wore blue socks when they played at the Emirates in December.

In addition to teams not being able to wear jerseys of the same color, shorts and socks must also be different.

Both teams were forced to go back out for a second warm-up due to the delay.

The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
