A new poll asked hundreds of small businesses who they thought would make a better presidential candidate, and the results weren’t close.

With just over a month to go until the November elections and with ballots already in voters’ hands, the Job Creators Network Foundation (JCNF) surveyed 400 small business employers.

These businessmen had largely the same answer: Donald Trump.

Former President Trump has a 12-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris among small businesses nationwide.

Specifically, 51 percent of employers responded that the former president will do a better job helping small businesses, while 39 percent said Harris.

The surprising results come at a time when the well-being of the economy consistently ranks as a top concern among voters.

The JCNF survey also reveals a closer look at how small business voters identify politically.

According to their survey, 35 percent of respondents were Republicans, 30 percent were Democrats and 33 percent were independents.

These respondents also said crime has increased in their areas, and 51 percent said it has been increasing.

“Small businesses have been struggling amid the economic downturn of recent years, and the ripple effects of high inflation are a major challenge,” JCNF president Elaine Parker told DailyMail.com in a statement.

“Main Street needs policies that support growth and opportunity rather than an agenda that discourages entrepreneurship and slows economic expansion.”

Additionally, respondents criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris’ handling of small business issues over the past two years.

When asked to grade the Biden-Harris administration, business owners overwhelmingly gave Democrats a negative grade, C, D or F.

The most common response among respondents was F, with 35 percent expressing their damning assessment that the White House has failed.

Overall, the JCNF results found that small business owners’ sentiment about the economy fell for the first time in nearly a year since last November.
