A couple who feared they would not live to see their grandchildren grow up lost more than 14 stones between them.

Katie, 45, and Tony Viney, 52, from Bicester began to review their lifestyle when their oldest daughter turned 18, making them think about their long-term future.

The couple, who have now dropped a combined 14th 4lbs, would spend family vacations watching their four children play on the beach from the sidelines because of their low energy.

David, who weighed 16th 7lbs, now weighs 11.5 pounds after the pair started dieting in January 2018.

And Katie, who was once given a scale on the 21st 3½lbs and was wearing a size 24, has shrunk to a size of 10 and 12 pounds, after piling up on the pounds after the birth of each of her children.

The happy couple say they start a new life and run their dogs up to five miles a day.

& # 39; Our oldest daughter Rhiannon was about to turn 18 and it hit me that my children were suddenly growing up – and that one day I could have grandchildren.

& # 39; To the extent that I went, I knew I would not be there to see them. My condition was terrible and even a short walk would tire me. I didn't even like to climb the stairs unless I absolutely had to. Something had to change. & # 39;

Katie, who has now lost 9pcs 1.5lbs by renewing her lifestyle with the help of Slimming World, received extra support from her husband after asking for an unusual Christmas gift.

Tony now lost 5pcs 2.5lbs and said: & # 39; Like every year in December 2017, I asked Katie what she would like to do at Christmas. She became a bit emotional and asked me if she could have a Slimming World membership.

& # 39; I could see how much she wanted to change, so I decided to cut the bullet and go with her.

& # 39; I had always been overweight myself – I grew up in a fish and chip shop, so fried food was always on the menu. In fact, I was bored with eating fish and chips, so I developed a preference for fried pies.

& # 39; When Katie told me she didn't think she would live to see one of our grandchildren grow up, it really shocked me into action.

Called Slimming World & # 39; s Couple of the Year 2019, the duo admitted they were nervous about attending their first group meeting.

Katie said: & Even with Tony by my side, the nerves really fell. We were greeted with a big smile from our Consultant and she made us feel at ease right away.

& # 39; Everyone in the group was so friendly and there was a great sense that we were all in it together. Tony was especially happy when he also heard about the eating plan! & # 39;

Tony, who is a hotel teacher, added: & # 39; As a professional chef, I was a little concerned that we should give up all our favorite foods and just live on a diet of lettuce leaves! However, I could not have been wrong anymore.

& # 39; I soon realized that I could adjust many of our favorite family meals by simply using swaps, such as switching from oil to low-calorie cooking spray and with lean cuts of meat. One of our favorites is a beefstroganoff, which is absolutely delicious. & # 39;

Teaching Assistant Katie revealed that her desire to lose weight was also motivated by health reasons.

She said: “I got lymphedema in my legs a few years ago after I had cellulite and therefore always had to wear surgical stockings.

& # 39; However, since losing weight my circulation has improved so much that one of my legs is completely normal again.
