A fisherman claimed to have heard sobbing and a gunshot from the spot where Mica Miller committed suicide after allegedly being abused by her pastor husband.

Johnnie Jacobs told the News Nation affiliate WBTW He found the 30-year-old mother’s fanny pack with her ID inside before hearing crying and a gunshot.

Jacobs recalled, “Maybe five minutes after I went into the carnage, I heard a scream, a faint scream.” I listened to it for about two or three minutes and then the crying stopped.

He added: “If there had been a person crying where I could see them, I would have watched them all day.”

Miller died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on April 27 at Lumber State Park in Lumberton, North Carolina, according to authorities.

Her body was found just days after her husband John Paul Miller filed divorce papers.

The 44-year-old pastor has been accused of grooming her for years before they married and putting her in a hospital to steal her car.

In the days after her death, her friends and family held a rally calling for ‘justice for Mica’ outside the Solid Rock Church where Pastor Miller works.

The pastor shocked his parishioners last week when, after a service in which he laughed and seemed completely calm, he announced that his wife had died and that her death was “self-induced.”

He then told worshipers that he would take “a little break” and leave the church without discussing what he had just told them.

Weeks before she died, Mica posted an emotional video in which she spoke about abuse within marriage and offered support to “ANYONE who is struggling to get out of a dangerous situation because they believe God will be ‘angry’ with them.”

She said: ‘My heart is a little heavy today. I’ve had a lot of women contact me about abusive situations, and I just want to tell you what a lot of people have told me lately, because I think I forgot.

‘But you are the bride of Christ before anyone else, whether male or female, no matter what gender you are, abuse is abuse.’

Court records hint at tumult within the marriage: Mica first filed for divorce in October 2023 before withdrawing the request on February 12.

Later that same month, Miller filed a lawsuit against his wife for child support and separate maintenance in a motion withdrawn on March 11.

But on April 15, just 12 days before she was found dead, Mica filed a new lawsuit and, according to her friends, also requested a no-contact order against her husband.

Speaking to DailyMail.com last week, Mica’s sister Sierra Brown said: “The only thing I would say is that he said it was an official suicide, but that’s not the case.” There is still an open investigation.

Her friends Kenn and Allicia Young have also insisted to NewsNation that Mica did not take her own life.

However, evidence released by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office as part of its investigation conclusively shows that Miller was plotting to end his life.

An image from a Ring doorbell shows her on her porch at 11 a.m. on the day she died.

A little over an hour later, a surveillance image shows her entering Dick’s pawn shop, where she purchases a firearm.

The waitress told how the pastor had been sending her flirtatious messages, even calling her “super sexy” and asking for “bikini photos” while he was still married.

Shortly after, Miller’s black Honda was observed traveling on Highway 501 near Four Mile Rd., Conway, South Carolina, en route to the state park.

Once there, he called 911 to instruct a dispatcher on where to find her body. Police also released distressing audio of the call.

In Mica’s obituary written by Miller, who has a criminal record that includes multiple counts of aggravated assault and battery to which he pleaded guilty, he makes no mention of the fact that the couple had separated.

Instead, he described her as a “great stepmother and an incredible wife and partner,” and described her as his biggest cheerleader.

Meanwhile, a waitress claims Pastor Miller was sending her flirtatious messages while his wife was planning suicide, even calling her “super sexy” and asking for “bikini photos.”

Pastor Miller has since been relieved of his ministry duties at Solid Rock at Market Common Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
