Sky Sports mistakenly displayed the wrong name on its on-screen man-of-the-match graphic

Sky Sports mistakenly named Gabriel Jesus as the man of the match in the north London derby, despite the player only being on the pitch for a few minutes.

The award was intended for his team-mate and compatriot Gabriel Magalhaes, who scored the winning goal in the first north London derby of the season.

Gabriel Jesus came on as a late substitute but barely made his mark at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the Arsenal centre-back had the opposite effect, scoring a fine header from Bukayo Sako’s corner in the 64th minute.

The goal exposed Tottenham’s defensive ingenuity at set-pieces, which left the Brazilians acres of space in their six-yard box to head home the winner.

Speaking to the broadcaster after the match, Gabriel was delighted with the goal that gave the Gunners all three points: “I’m very happy. We know it’s a difficult game, it’s a big derby.

We are very happy to have won here. Let’s enjoy it now.

Arsenal scored more goals from corners than any other Premier League side last season, with 16. They have already scored two in the first four games of the 2024-25 campaign.

For defender Gabriel, it was his first goal since February this year, but the Brazilian showed impressive composure alongside centre-back partner William Saliba to deny a wasteful Spurs an equaliser.
