Detective David Bucy said at a press conference that the child took the gun from his house where he lives with his grandparents. The boy's grandfather had reported the weapon missing.

& # 39; We really don't know why the child brought the gun to school except show-and-tell or brag or show off, & # 39; said Bucy.

It is unlikely that charges will be filed due to the child's young age.

The Gun Crimes Unit of the Columbus police is still investigating.
