SIX sneaky WhatsApp hacks that let you secretly read texts without your boss finding out

  • MailOnline describes six smart tricks to improve your privacy on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is known for its end-to-end encryption and the value it places on user privacy.

But that doesn’t stop other users from getting a glimpse into your online activities – especially when they see those two little blue checkmarks appearing at the bottom of their post.

Whether it’s an overly official boss or perhaps a nosy ex-partner, there are plenty of occasions when you might want to stay under the radar.

Here, MailOnline describes six smart tricks to improve your privacy on WhatsApp.

1. Press and hold the message when it appears on your phone

Also called “super stealth mode,” this feature lets you open a “preview box” of the message body while holding down the notification.

This will allow you to read the entire WhatsApp message, but it will completely bypass the app, meaning no blue tick is left for the sender to see.

2. Rotate from read receipts

Read receipts are automatically turned on for WhatsApp’s 2.2 billion users – meaning a blue check mark appears when a sender’s message has been read.

But savvy users can disable this feature by going to the settings in the WhatsApp app.

To do this, go to Settings, Account, Privacy, Read receipts and turn off the switch.

3. Use airplane mode

Enabling airplane mode on your device cuts off the smartphone’s access to data and Wi-Fi, which means WhatsApp won’t register that the message has been read if it’s opened.

4. Read from the Android WhatsApp widget

Android users can install a WhatsApp widget that allows you to see and read messages without activating the blue check mark.

However, you cannot view photos, videos, or documents, and you cannot view all chats through the widget. Allows you to select individual conversations only.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Press and hold anywhere on the Android mobile home screen.

2. Find the widget option and tap it.

3. Look for the WhatsApp chat widget. Press and hold it to bring it to the home screen.

5. Read through the iPhone 3D Touch

iPhone 6s or newer users can secretly read WhatsApp messages using the 3D Touch feature.

This feature allows users to preview shorter chats. Here’s how to do it:

1: Launch WhatsApp but do not enter chat.

2: Click and long press on the chat you want to read.

3: A window opens to peek into the conversation without opening the message.

4: Don’t forget to click outside the small window. Otherwise, go to the chat inbox and activate the read receipt.

6. Secretly follow someone else’s chats

Smartphone users can install an app called KidsGuard that can monitor someone else’s WhatsApp chat without their knowledge, such as a child.

In addition to tracking received, sent or deleted messages, it also offers the option to have live screenshots of the chat.

It also allows you to track videos, images, and documents from someone’s live chat.
