‘I’d like to do something special’: Dancing On Ice’s Siva Kaneswaran says he’s determined to make it to final to pay tribute to late bandmate Tom Parker
Siva Kaneswaran of The Wanted has spoken of his determination to make it to the Dancing On Ice final to honor his late bandmate Tom Parker.
Tom tragically passed away last March at the age of 33 after a valiant battle against brain cancer, having been diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in October 2020.
Shiva, 34, said if he makes it to the finals he hopes to do something special in Tom’s memory by performing on one of their songs.
He also discussed how he plans to invite Tom’s widow Kelsey and her two children.
Siva said, “If I can make it to the finals, I’d like to do something special for Tom, maybe use one of our songs and invite Kelsey and the kids.”

Siva also shared how special it would be for Tom’s children to see their father back on screen.
“It’s about making more positive memories.” To me they are like my niece and nephew. You want to make good memories with them. I’d like them to hear our song, maybe see their father on screen again,’ he said The mirror.
Siva added that Tom is his “guiding light” whom he turns to in difficult times and claims that he always feels his presence.
And the singer recently admitted he needed his pal more than ever after battling back a viral chest infection to survive last weekend’s skate-off on the ITV1 show.
Siva said, ‘If I get into a difficult situation, I am really down, or I am in a difficult place, I will say, ‘What would Tom do?’ “I get the answer I need. I use that as my guideline.’
The interview comes before Siva claimed he is preparing for a new phase of grief as he and those closest to Tom prepare to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his death.
The star said, “It’s wild to me that it’s been a year, feels like it was just a few months ago. I am still processing and sometimes grieving.
“As a band we haven’t discussed the anniversary yet, but I personally will light a candle in March and put more energy into raising awareness about brain tumors.”

Tom lost his life in March last year after a year and a half battle with stage four glioblastoma brain cancer.
And ahead of his Siva’s first show with partner Klabera, Siva swallowed tears and said, “I think I’m still grieving” before revealing that his friend’s “courage” inspired him to participate on the ITV show.
In the candid confession, he admitted, “When I think of the past, I think of Tom, last year Tom…” before breaking down emotionally.
Before adding, “I think I’m still grieving. I witness his courage as he battled his illness, and it was so inspiring.”
As he spoke, a photo of him and his late friend was shown from their time together on the charts.
