Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of 25 per cent of Manchester United’s capital has been approved by the Football Association.
The incoming INEOS tycoon had received approval from the Premier League on Monday night and was awaiting the final nod from the FA before the formalities of the deal were completed.
A new update from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Wednesday confirmed that the FA has also given permission for the deal to go ahead.
It means that official confirmation of the deal is getting closer to completion.
The deal won’t be completed until the tender offer closes at the end of the week, and it could still be a little longer after that.
