Sinister new details emerge after four people killed in fiery head-on crash on Leach Highway, Perth

Harrowing details have emerged about a van which was traveling on the wrong side of the road before crashing head-on into a taxi, claiming four lives.

Emergency services were called to Leach Highway in Cloverdale, near Perth Airport, about 3.40am on Monday following reports of a head-on collision which caused the Toyota RAV4 to burst into flames.

Both the driver of the Toyota RAV4 and the 58-year-old taxi driver died at the scene.

A mother and her daughter who were in the back seat of the taxi, aged 56 and 81, also lost their lives.

Police have since revealed that the driver of the Toyota RAV4 He made a “conscious decision” to drive on the wrong side of the road, which has lanes and is separated by a center wall.

“It’s such a tragic event for that family, not just that family that lost a mother and a daughter… there are four families that have been affected by this,” Detective Sergeant Hugh Le Tessier said.
