A single mother lost everything she owned after her deep fryer exploded and set her house on fire.

Angel Carpenter, 23, thought it was a prank when he received a call to say his house was on fire around 11 a.m. on January 24.

She returned to find the property destroyed along with all her and her 15-month-old daughter Frankie’s furniture, clothes and toys.

Shocking images captured in the aftermath show the devastating damage caused by the fire.

In the kitchen, the oven is covered in ash and the wallpaper is so charred it’s peeling off.

The living room has a hole in the wall and a door can be seen lying on the floor after being burned off its hinges.

Angel was told assisting Bridgnorth and many Wenlock firefighters that the fire could have been caused by an electrical fault which led to the air fryer and two areoles exploding.

The fire also burst the water pipes that put out the flames.

Now Angel’s mother Emma Carpenter, 43, is hoping to raise £4.5k to refurbish her daughters’ home.

Administrative worker Angel, from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, said: “He said it had something to do with a plug or it could have been a dodgy fryer.”

‘That had melted, they couldn’t tell what it was. Everything I have worked for has gone into that house.

‘It was a shock. I cried for ten hours. It broke me. I have lost everything in that house.

Angel was at work when he received a call from a neighbor telling him that his house was on fire. Her daughter Frankie was being cared for by Emma.

She said: ‘They said your house is on fire.

‘I thought it was a joke. I didn’t expect this. I always double check that everything is turned off.

Bridgnorth and many Wenlock fire services had already arrived and put out the fire when Angel arrived.

He was able to recover some clothes from the house, but they reek of smoke.

Angel said: ‘Four washes later and we still haven’t gotten the smell out.

‘We managed to get photos of the paintings and some of his first birthday cards. I’m going to laminate them.

Unfortunately, Angel does not have any home insurance and lives with his mother, Emma, until he can fix and restore his home.

She said: ‘I should have taken out fire insurance or home insurance. You don’t think about it. It doesn’t feel real. It feels like a dream.

Angel is grateful to anyone who donated to Fundraising.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue were unable to provide information on the cause of the fire.

They said: ‘At 11:17 on Friday 24 January 2025, SFRS fire control received a call reporting a fire classified as a house fire in Bridgnorth.

‘Two Bridgnorth appliances and a lot of Wenlock were mobilized. An operations officer attended.

‘Fire crews used two hose reel jets, covering jet, ventilation fan and 4 breathing apparatus. Fire crews also insulated solar panels, gas and electricity.
