An employee joked that he would ensure that he was present for her lunch appointment.

When she complained to the company through Facebook Messenger, she was told: “I fully understand how disrespectful the behavior is, although to be honest, the comments were flattering if they were not professional.”

The company apologized fiercely to Emily and invited her to visit so she could apologize personally, but she said she would feel “uncomfortable” to be present.

“I sent them a message yesterday at 1 p.m. about a valet in my car, and then around 12 p.m. I received a message from someone who happened to be in the WhatsApp group chat with those men, recognized me and thought it was not okay was, “” explained.

“I didn’t want to go anymore because I was humiliated and upset, so I told them how disgusting the behavior was because they were meant to be professional.

“Instead, they go around to save women’s photos that go and make rude sexual comments. They tried to offer me a free valet when I said I would report it. “

The full-time mother went on: ‘I’m just a normal woman – as a customer I didn’t ask for anything.

‘This is borderline intimidation. They think it’s flattering, so it’s okay, but it’s not acceptable! “

Cornwall Live visited Truro City Car Wash and spoke with co-owner Daniel Morris, who gladly apologized to Emily.

He said: “The motorcycle trade is a male-dominated area and can be sexist, which I do everything to stop in my business.

“The boys thought they were commenting in a closed, safe group, not that it excuses their behavior.”

He added that he had a meeting with the staff this morning and those involved had been “knocked over” and disciplined.

Daniel continued: ‘I wanted to have a sit-down meeting with the lady in question, so I can apologize personally because I am very sorry about what happened, but she refused. I contacted the young lady and said that I am happy to meet somewhere where she would be happy, such as a branch from Costa.

‘The boys – many of them have a difficult background – are not used to the business world. I hate to use the word “joke” *. It was really stupid. “

He went on to say that the case was now in the hands of lawyers because staff members had received text messages from people calling them “pigs” and “bastards.”

Daniel added: “There is change in the air and men must stop this kind of behavior.”
