A photo of a road littered with disposable vapes has sparked outrage, with some labeling it an example of the “worst of humanity”.

The photo posted on social media site Reddit shows the vapes strewn along a barrier on Melbourne’s West Gate Freeway.

‘Does anyone else see this regularly? “People are dumping used vapors (I assume) at the confluence of Westgate and Bolte (Bridge) heading east towards the tunnel,” Reddit user u/isjimmyhere wrote alongside the image.

The thoughtless removal of e-cigarettes sparked angry reactions, with people noting the toxic and non-recyclable nature of their plastic casings and lithium batteries.

“Disposable vapes are the worst thing about humanity,” wrote one Reddit user.

“A whole block of plastic with an acid battery so you can snort nicotine for a few days and then throw it out into the world to leak acid and stay there until the extinction of humanity.”Indiana.’

Another Reddit user succinctly described those who throw away their vaporizers as “putrid animals.”

‘People really have no respect for anything. “They are happy to live in their own filth,” another comment read.

However, some thought the federal government should take some of the blame with clear photographic evidence that the ban on disposable vaporizers was not working.

“That’s why it’s not prohibited, it’s regulated,” said the user.

“If they hadn’t banned these things but only allowed rechargeable ones, the number of people buying these disposables on the black market would have been drastically reduced.”

Several noted that vaporizers were a constant feature.

“They clean it every 2 or 3 months and a day or two later it’s back… I walk by it every day,” wrote one Reddit user.

Some contrasted it unfavorably with the days when it was more common cigarettes cigarette butts littering the roadsides.

“I’m not saying I approve of it, but (before) smokers would throw their butts out the window because it was on fire,” the user wrote.

The sale of single-use disposable vaporizers has been banned in Australia since early January.

“This is just lazy rubbish, they could easily wait for a bin to arrive.”

Last year, federal Health Minister Mark Butler announced that single-use disposable vapes would be banned and that came into effect on January 1.

From Friday, the importation of all vaporizers without a license or permit was banned and personal importation schemes for vaporizers will be closed.

The government will also work to strengthen quality and safety standards for therapeutic vaporizers, which are now only available with a prescription.

Butler revealed this week that the government would also spend $250,000 partnering with Spotify, social media influencers and sports stars as part of its anti-vaping programme.

But shortly after the announcement, old photos emerged that appeared to show one of the associate ambassadors holding a vaporizer.

Jaxon Fairbairn, a member of the Australian comedy duo Fairbairn Films, posted the photo to his Instagram in June, according to The Australian, although it appears to have been deleted.
