One avid traveler shared a simple flight booking trick to score yourself an entire row of seats.
Janellefrom the US who has been to 21 different countries shared a video on TikTok with her 129,000 followers.
The ‘hack’ involves booking the aisle and window seat when traveling in pairs to leave the middle seat free in the hopes that it will remain free.
“Nobody wants the middle seat, absolutely nobody. So why are we booking it?’ said Janelle.

Avid traveler Janelle (pictured), from the US, shared why you should book both aisle and window when traveling with your partner
“If you book with your partner, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, boyfriend, whoever, you book the aisle seat and the window because remember nobody wants the middle seat,” Janelle said in the clip.
“So chances are nobody buys the middle seat or gets put in the seat between you – then you have a whole row to yourself.
“If an aisle is open above a center seat, 100 times out of 100 the person chooses the row with the aisle open in the middle,” she said.
Janelle recommends not reserving the middle seat and hoping it stays available so you have an entire row to yourself. But if someone books the middle seat you always have the option to ‘swap’
Many will probably avoid the middle seat, but if one does, Janelle said you always have the “option” to “swap” and sit next to your partner or friend.
“Let’s say they let someone sit in the middle seat, then you have the option to trade with them because absolutely no one wants to sit in the middle seat,” she said.
“So you could bid, ‘Hey, would you trade for my aisle seat or my window seat?’ They will say “Yes.”
“And then you can still sit next to each other.”
While the trick probably won’t work every time, it’s worth a try.
Janelle learned the tip after traveling around the world to France, Iceland, UK, Spain, Greece, Germany, Italy, Bali, New Zealand, Amsterdam, Peru, Ireland and Australia.
The video was viewed more than 950,000 times and many thanked Janelle for sharing the tip.
What you should never do on an airplane
1. Don’t go barefoot
2. Don’t get up during turbulence
3. Don’t ignore the security demos
4. Don’t snap at the crew
5. Don’t get up as soon as you land
6. Don’t touch the flush button in the toilets
7. Never wear shorts
8. Don’t lean your head against the window
Earlier this year, American flight attendant Tommy Cimato, from Arizona, revealed five things you should never do on an airplane.
In a TikTok video, he said passengers should never wear shorts, lean their heads against the window and drink at least 470 ml of water on every flight.
First, Tommy also advised passengers not to touch the toilet flush knob or handle as it is incredibly unsanitary.
“It’s pretty dirty, so if you flush, use a napkin or tissue that’s in the toilet,” he said.
He then reminded viewers to drink water while traveling, especially on long-haul flights.
‘Stay hydrated. You want about 470 ml for every flight you make,” Tommy advised.
Although the window seat is a popular spot that my most passengers have chosen, Tommy never said “to sleep or lean on the window.”
“You don’t know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window,” he said.
