Simone Biles sends birthday wishes to NFL star friend Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles, on the eve of launching her bid to add her four Olympic gold medals, showed she doesn’t just have her love of glory in mind.

The 24-year-old American star from Spring, Texas, poured out her affection for NFL boyfriend Jonathan Owens who is back home in Houston, Texas.

The footballer is celebrating his 26th birthday with his girlfriend thousands of miles away, who is preparing to take gymnastics gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

But Simone, who is staying in a hotel near the Olympic Village, posted Instagram today: ‘Here in Japan it’s already my favorite person’s birthday. HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY BABE. @jowens_3 I love you so much. I can’t wait to celebrate you when I get home!’

She continued: “Thank you for keeping me healthy through the craziest times. also an ear to vent, someone to share good times with and make the best memories. i’m not sure how i got so lucky and what i would do without you!

“But I hope you’re having the best day ever. Not so much fun without me, hahaha forever yours, S.’

She showed she was in heaven when it came to love for her boyfriend by posting seven photos of them together.

Earlier this month, Simone revealed how she met Owens after slipping into his DMs during the Covid pandemic.

She told WSJ. Magazine’s July digital issue of how she saw the safety of the Houston Texans on social media and sent him a direct message that kicked off their longstanding relationship.

“He’d say I slipped into his DMs. I saw him and I thought “oh, he’s pretty cute” so I said hello… and then I saw he was near Houston, so we started chatting a bit, and then we went for a week hang out or two later,” she explained.

However, it was Biles’ sister, Adria, who pushed them together after watching them flirt for about three weeks. The two athletes were FaceTimed when Adria grabbed Biles’ cell phone and invited Owens to join them on a trip to a lake house.

Not only did Owens, 25, come, but he also brought his English bulldog Zeus, who got along well with Biles’ French bulldog Lilo.

The footballer received the Bileses’ stamp of approval and was invited to join their Sunday night dinners as they resumed later in the pandemic.

Simone is looking for four individual golds and a team gold in Tokyo and has not lost a game since 2013.

Earlier in the day, Simone and the other Team USA gymnasts offered their first look at the glitzy — and very expensive — leotards they’re wearing for the Olympics.

The group took to the mat to train at the Ariake Gymnastics Center in Tokyo.

The elite athletes wore two different leotards from GK Elite, the official apparel sponsor of the U.S. Gymnastics National Team, each tailored for the woman wearing it and decked out with approximately 3,500 Swarovski crystals.

Those crystals were all applied by hand, with 75 people directly involved in the hands-on production of each leotard.

While GK Elite has kept the official price tag of the uniforms a secret, they are estimated to be worth $700 to $1,200 each — and are part of a larger Olympic wardrobe worth about $12,000 per gymnast.

Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee and Grace McCallum all wore matching black and rose gold leotards, which the brand says are “dynasty” themed and “a celebration of all that has led the US to a powerful gymnastics team and country that honor expresses to athletes and designs of the past as it prepares for the future.”

GK Elite says the leotard is inspired by the Tokyo 2020 torch, with a design on the front that mimics the flame.

Each is adorned with 3,515 hand-applied Brilliance and Blush Swarovski crystals and finished with a crystallized VS on the right hip, an embroidered GK logo on the left hip and an American flag sewn on the right sleeve.
