Despite being one of the top American Olympians, Simone Biles admitted that her husband Jonathan Owens may have a slight athletic advantage over her.
The 27-year-old was supported by her NFL husband Owens, who was given time off from the Chicago Bears’ pre-season training camp to make the trip to Paris, as she added three gold medals and a silver to her Olympic tally.
The Bears safety went viral after he was spotted taking notes and keeping track of his scores at Bercy Arena.
And while Biles admitted she’s already made the switch to “NFL wife mode,” she said her knowledge of gymnastics far exceeds that of the gridiron.
“I had the opportunity to attend a preseason game. It was a lot of fun being able to support my husband in any way I could,” she began by telling Vanessa Richardson in an interview.

“I feel like he knows more about gymnastics than I do about football,” she added when asked about her husband’s note-taking.
“He’s very cultured. He’s a bit of a nerd when it comes to that kind of stuff. So I make sure I find him on the field and then whatever happens, happens. Because it’s a sport where you never know what can happen, so once I can find him, I find him.”
“The support means a lot,” she continued. “We’ve been through a lot together, not just as athletes but as a couple, so having him there, even though he couldn’t go to Tokyo, meant a lot.”
However, some fans felt Owens may have taken his support a step too far after he was criticized for wearing his wife’s gold medal around his neck.
Owens shared a loving photo of him and her proudly displaying their Olympic gold medal, leaving fans furious.
In a post celebrating his wife, he posed next to her with the gold around his neck and wrote: “You witness history every time you step on the mat. Congrats babe on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history! Just wow!!! …

Fans criticized Owens after he shared a photo of himself wearing Biles’ gold medal
But despite his moving words, Owens has been criticised by fans online for his “strange” behaviour while wearing the medal.
One wrote: ‘You do realise that’s not your medal… right?’
Another said: “But why are you wearing this? How weird.”
“I knew he would wear his medal like he earned it,” said a third user.
A fourth commented: ‘That gold medal you’re holding in your hands is Simone’s, not yours my friend.’
Meanwhile, Biles also came under fire last week when she made a fashion and soccer faux pas.

She appeared in support of Owens, wearing a custom jacket with black and white images of him printed on it.
The Olympic legend made a rookie mistake in the NFL, however, as several plays showed Owens in action for the Green Bay Packers, the Bears’ longtime rivals and his former team.
In addition to photos of Owens in a Packers uniform, a large Green Bay logo on his shoulder pad had been prominently featured in certain snapshots and videos.
Her attempts at a touching, supportive gesture toward Owens landed Biles in the middle of one of the league’s fiercest rivalries and fans were not impressed – one even claimed she should be “stripped of all her medals” for her fashion gaffe.
