Simone Biles and husband Jonathan Owens had reason to celebrate during Week 1

Simone Biles and husband Jonathan Owens had reason to celebrate during the opening weekend of the 2024 NFL season.

Owens, who married the Olympic legend last year, was in action for the Chicago Bears during their home opener against the Tennessee Titans at Soldier Field on Saturday.

The gymnast, who added three more gold medals and an Olympic gold medal to her tally in Paris last month, didn’t appear to be in the Windy City to cheer on her NFL boyfriend, but she was still supporting him from afar.

And the assurance gave the Olympic legend more than enough to cheer about when he found the end zone.

With the Bears down 17-3 and nine minutes remaining in the third quarter, the special teams player scored the franchise’s first touchdown of the season and the second of his career.

Responding to a clip of the performance on X, formerly known as Twitter, the gymnastics icon wrote: “I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK.”

She also shared the clip on her Instagram Story and added: ‘LFG! LANDING FOR MY HUSBAND.’

Owens recovered a blocked punt in the second half and took it into the end zone.

The score was 17-10 in favor of the Bears, who pulled off an incredible 24-17 comeback victory in quarterback Caleb Williams’ NFL debut.

Chicago granted Owens a leave of absence from training camp this summer so she could travel to Paris to cheer on Biles at her third Olympics, but since her win the gymnast has taken over cheerleading duties.

Biles watched a Bears preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Soldier Field on August 17.

However, the 27-year-old was criticized for accidentally making a fashion — and football — mistake when she wore an outdated jacket with black-and-white images printed on it of Owens in action for the Green Bay Packers, the Bears’ longtime fierce rivals and her former team.

She brushed off the criticism and assured fans last week that she now has “a lot of (Bears gear),” according to TMZ.

But it remains a mystery when we’ll be able to see Biles sporting her new Bears merchandise.

She recently revealed to her adoring fans that she will not be able to attend many of her husband’s NFL games this season due to her post-Olympic duties.

Biles is currently preparing for the Gold Over America Tour, which forced her to say goodbye to Owens last week as she returned to Chicago for the start of the season.

The tour, a traveling gymnastics showcase that will feature a host of gymnastics stars including Biles and her gold medal-winning U.S. teammates Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera, kicks off Sept. 16 in Oceanside, California.

It will make 30 stops across the United States and conclude in Detroit on November 3, which coincides with Week 9 of the NFL schedule, the midpoint of the regular season.

However, Biles could reach the second half of the schedule and the postseason if Chicago secures a playoff spot.
