The world’s best gymnasts will all come under one roof this week for the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships. The annual event takes place from September 30 to October 8 at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium and sees athletes compete in both team and individual apparatus and all-round competitions .

Fresh off her record-breaking eighth title at the USA Gymnastics Championships, Simone Biles returns to the World Championships for the sixth time. The Olympic champion is a 25-time medalist at the event and will be keen to add to her already impressive list of accolades. This is also Bile’s first appearance at the World Championship since 2019.
This year’s competition also takes on greater significance as the Olympic qualifying spots are up for grabs. The U.S. women’s gymnastics team has already qualified for next year’s Olympic Games in Paris, but the men’s team has yet to book a ticket.

Antwerp is the last chance for countries to qualify a team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The US, Great Britain and Canada have already qualified women’s teams, while China, Japan and Great Britain earned a place on the men’s side.
The remaining qualifiers will come from the top nine teams (excluding the above-mentioned countries) in both the men’s and women’s events at the end of qualifying.
