The 60-year-old singer nicknamed So Macho dated the 64-year-old music mogul from 1982 to 1984 and they have remained good friends ever since.
MailOnline has contacted Simon’s representatives for comment.
This comes after Simon admitted last month that he finally felt “happy again” after discovering Lauren was pregnant with their first child.
The X Factor judge shared a raw and intimate look at his relationship with Lauren during an emotional interview with Steven Bartlett on his Diary of a CEO podcast.
Father-of-one Simon said “everything changed in his life” the moment he found out he was having a baby.
The socialite was pregnant with her son Eric while married to real estate mogul Andrew Silverman, a year after they ended their marriage.
Lauren and her ex-husband Andrew, who share 18-year-old son Adam, were close friends with Simon long before their romance.
Recalling the “perfect” day Lauren told him she was pregnant, Simon said: “I got the call from Lauren. Any call that starts with ‘Are you sitting down?’, you know what’s coming next.
“She said, ‘Are you sitting down? ‘ I said, ‘Yes. ‘ And she said it to me. And that completely changed my life. It made me happy again, for me it was perfect.

‘Without a doubt (he saved me), I got to a point where nothing happened. I even got to a point where I don’t remember well what happened at that moment. It affected me a lot.
‘The hardest thing was also going on TV because I felt like a clown, as if I was dying inside. I gained a lot of weight, I ate junk food, it was as if I had been hit by a bus the next day, I didn’t care.
‘It was dark the whole time, I can completely understand people reaching the lowest levels possible.’
Simon also revealed that he and Lauren underwent couples therapy sessions to strengthen their relationship, while joking that they would make “the best reality show on the planet.”
Sharing her love for therapy, she said: “Yes, I’ve done that (couples therapy). My goodness, ours would be the best reality show on the planet, seriously.”
‘I think I met some people who were in the entertainment business and we talked a lot about how to deal with this and how to deal with that and two people in particular said that we went to therapy and they said, “Have you tried it?”
“And I said, ‘No.’ And they said, ‘Try it once and see how you feel.’ And when I tried it, it was very interesting.
‘What you realize is that most of us have actually repressed things somewhere in our bodies and it’s like a release and we all need that release because there’s something in our brain that we haven’t talked about or something that’s been bothering you.
“And you don’t know who to talk to and it’s not really a weakness, it’s a strength to admit that we need help and why not take advantage of it.”

In addition to couples therapy, Simon often talks about his fears, problems and concerns alone with a therapist.
He added: ‘After that injury (breaking his back), I thought it would be really crazy for me not to go to therapy after everything I’ve been through and talk to someone who is an expert, who you can trust, who can advise you and it’s a bit like going to the gym.
‘Because afterwards you feel really good and you know, initially you think it’s going to be embarrassing, but they’re so well trained in what they do, it made me feel better.
“I would talk to them about things that used to bother me. You kind of know what answer you’re going to get, but someone else has to tell you.”
