The shocking moment a motorcyclist spits at a female driver through her open car window has been caught on camera, but the motorcyclist claims he was just reacting to her poor driving.
The images were taken at River Esplanade, Maroochydore, on the Sunshine Coast, on Monday, November 4, at around 9.30am and shared on Instagram shortly after the incident.
It shows a middle-aged man walking past the woman’s car before turning around and spitting out the window at her.
The woman reacts with disgust, rolling up the window and shouting: ‘You’re a disgusting piece of sh*t.’
Another man, dressed in a blue shirt, confronts the motorcyclist.
‘She’s a lady, mate. ‘You don’t spit on people,’ he said.
The woman thanked him for defending her and asked her passenger to write down the motorcyclist’s license plate.
Shocking footage captured the vile moment a motorcyclist spat at a female driver through her car window in an apparent road rage incident.
The video then cuts to a scene in which the motorcyclist hits the man in the blue shirt as the woman passes by.
However, the motorcyclist spoke out on social media to share his side of the story, claiming the video left out crucial details.
He claimed the driver had been using her phone, swerved into her lane on a bridge and almost forced him over the guardrail.
“To be clear, the driver was on the phone and entered my lane in Bundilla on the new bridge (and) almost pushed me into the guardrail,” he said.
Then when I approached her to say “wtf” she gave me the finger and a mouth full of insults.
Another man (left) yelled at the motorcyclist for spitting on the woman.
“When I took a photo of her license plate, she became even more abusive and told me I hope they kill me, I hope you die.
“Then the old friend in the blue shirt grabbed me by the neck, hit him twice, I blew him up once and then I went straight to the police station.”
He also claimed that the female driver had spat at him first and had also “thrown things” at him while he was on her bike.
Queensland Police are investigating the attack and have not yet laid charges.
The driver, a 42-year-old woman from Mooloobala, and her passenger were not injured during the road rage incident.
In Queensland, spitting on a person is illegal and is considered common assault under section 245 of the Criminal Code Act 1899.
A common assault is when the person who was attacked has only minor injuries or no injuries at all.
The Penal Code Law states that the maximum penalty for common assault is up to three years in prison if the offender is found guilty of “unlawfully assaulting another.”
