Siblings, 12 and 9, save their 6-month-old sister from ‘being strangled by their mother’

Two young children aged 12 and 9 were forced to prevent their mother from strangling their 6-month-old sister when she allegedly locked them in a room and attacked them in their Florida home.

Ailenys Carmenate, 31, attempted to kill her three children in their apartment in Hialeah, South Florida, before the two eldest managed to ward her off and save their baby sister from their mother’s grasp, the authorities said.

The two older siblings, a 9-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, tugged at their mother’s hair, bit her arms and kicked her to try to stop her when she attacked the three children.

The gripping attack allegedly took place when Randy Montano, the father of the baby, and stepfather of the other two children returned from work.

Montano told officers that Carmenate locked their 6 month old daughter and her 12 year old son and 9 year old daughter in a bedroom and turned off the light.

He said he could hear the young children scream.

“I just killed a six month old baby,” Carmenate said, the children told officers.

Reportedly, the mother attacked the 6-month-old baby and tried to strangle her “by squeezing her elbow against the victim’s throat,” the police report said.

The 9-year-old girl attacked her mother, kicked, bit and pulled her hair in desperate attempts to save her sister, according to the police report.

While his sister struggled with his mother, the 12-year-old boy managed to unlock the door and Montano ran inside to find Carmenate’s hands tightly around the baby’s throat, the report said.

The distraught father said he was struggling with the attacker and Carmenate and the baby fell to the floor.

The furious mother then reportedly turned her attention to her son, trying to choke him, the police report said.

When the boy managed to escape, he told the police that he had seen his mother dragging his 9-year-old sister on the hair and strangling her.

The girl told the police that her mother squeezed and her throat squeezed to the point where she “could no longer breathe and thought she would die.”

The report said that Carmenate then released the girl, who then fled for her life.

Officers were called on the spot and arrested Carmenate on suspicion of attempted murder of her three children.
