A cheeky map maker has set the internet ablaze with a series of maps that poke fun at the residents of some of Australia’s major cities.
Melbournes will be more than familiar with some of the gold-rolled sightings from Topher Agar, which marks the suburb of Frankston; Freakston, Franghole, Shankston, Frankghanistan, Frankenstein, Funky Town and Frangas.
Across the bay in the west of Melbourne, St Albans passes through Stab Albans, Snorbans, St Balkans, Stab Organs, St Albania and Stablands.
Melbourne aka Melbs includes a reference to Footscray aka Footahs, The Scray, Footscrazy, Foots Crack and Footisgray.

Sydney, also known as ‘Sydders’, has also been extensively surveyed by the mischievous cartographer, who refers to Sydney as ‘Sh*tney’.
Surrounding the capital are Bleed (Glib), Spewtown (Newtown) and Balpain (Balmain), while further south Campbelltown police C-Town, Prambeltown, Camp Belltown, Scrambletown, Shambletown and Cambodia.
Brissy (Brisbane) was also given the Agar treatment, with the capital going by the names Bristanbul, Bris Vegas, San FranBrisco, Brisbekistan, Brisneyland, Brisbang, and Briso.
Greenslopes, just south of Brisbekistan, become Greenslops, Groanslops, Green Acres and ‘The Slops’.
Ippy (Ipswich) is also known as Ipsh*t, Dipswich, The Switch, Sh*tswich, and Pisswich.
Adelaide, or Radelaide, and Perth, which has been rated P-Troit, also received the Ager treatment with more in the works.

Sydney has been renamed ‘Sh*tney’ in a map that adopts the voice of the community to name its suburbs

Sydney, also known as ‘Shitney’, is surrounded by colorful suburbs, such as Blond Dye and Bronte Carlo.
Agar, who actually lives in New Zealand, told Daily Mail Australia that her maps had taken years to make.
‘It’s an ongoing project that I started a couple of years ago; the names come from locals on different social networks and forums like Reddit (for Melbourne, for example, I have a full list of sources as well),’ she said.
“The continuous part also means that, partly due to the ever-evolving nature of the jargon, I update the maps regularly to try to make them as up-to-date and comprehensive as possible.”
Agar said the nicknames were only used by particular ‘in-groups’, which could be invented by sports fans, students, ‘boomers’, rappers or truckers.
“All of whom may be completely unaware of each other’s language use,” he said.
Hagar started building the maps, which have gone semi-viral in recent weeks, when she noticed there was nothing quite like them despite the commonality of some of the names.
“I studied linguistics and I’m something of a map and language nerd, so it all made sense. And it’s super fun for me,’ she said.

Brisbane is surrounded by colorful suburbs, such as Poopers Stains and Mount No-Money.

Underwood (pictured), south of Brisbane, has become ‘Under Hood’ on the map
Agar admitted to having a few favorites out of the hundreds of names, including Cemetery Gates for Sanctuary Lakes in Melbourne’s west.
“I also enjoy the natural evolution of sound in examples like Yarra becomes Yazza, Werribee – Wezza, Cranbourne – Cranny, or the ridiculous over-the-top abstractions like Yazza Vazza (Yarra Valley) or Mooza B (Mongrelbark!).” he said.
Agar said he plans to create similar maps for major cities around the world.
‘I have all the major Australian cities pretty much complete now, but I’m still updating. And I’m actually doing the whole world: It’s a little bit out of control,” she said.
“I also have maps of countries and the main urban areas of each continent up and running. From Accra in Ghana to Miami to Milan… please help me, I can’t stop.’
Mr. Agar’s work is available here with full versions also found on the shittownsofaustralia Facebook and Substack sites.
