Women can be forced to wait up to ten months until some HST products return to the shelves.
General practitioners and pharmacies struggle to supply many leading brands due to production shortages and delivery problems.
One of the products that is expected to be out of stock soon, are those from the companies Resource Medical, Themex and Mylan. Experts warn that some may not be available until mid-2020.

Zul Akram, of Resource Medical, said the company had struggled to find a manufacturer for the UK market, and added that it had recently decided not to renew its drug and drug license.

"The market is such that we are not sufficiently prescribed compared to the larger brands, such as Elleste [Mylan] and therefore waste more than half of our inventory," he said.
A shortage of the Themex products FemSeven Conti and Sequi is caused by quality problems with the glue that keeps the plasters on the skin.
It said it is unlikely that the products will be back in stock until next year and that it could not propose alternatives.
Meanwhile, the stock of Evorel, Evorel Conti and Evorel Sequi, produced by Janssen-Cilag, is expected to run out in October.
The company said it "experienced an unprecedented increase in demand for the Evorel range, partly due to the lack of availability of alternative HST that is not produced by Janssen".
