A man who visited an IGA supermarket to find a Mother’s Day gift ended up chasing an alleged robber out of the store with a machete in his hand.
The customer was at the Hackham IGA in Adelaide when he found out that another man allegedly refused to pay for his goods on Sunday afternoon and was abusing the staff.
Security footage captured confronting the alleged thief before losing his shirt in a scuffle and then picking up a nearby knife and chasing him outside.

Police allege that the robbery attempt took place after the man – dressed all in black – walked into the store, collected goods, and then started yelling at staff.
Shop owner Baggio Wang told me 9 News a 15-year-old employee began to cry after the man began assaulting workers.
“He screamed, screamed and abused all the staff,” Mr. Wang said.
The customer approached the alleged burglar and the two men fought for the fruit and vegetable aisle.
The shirtless shopper then took the knife – which was used by staff to cut fruit into pieces – from a back room and chased the alleged robber out of the store.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the South Australia Police Department.
