Police claim that on Sept. 6, 26-year-old Canley Vale of Sydney was seen eating hot meat on the front of his pants in a Chatswood supermarket.

The woman then allegedly visited the confectionery aisle to add to her collection.

The police said that she proceeded to leave the store without paying for the items, but was stopped by officers, who were conducting an operation in the suburb at the same time.

They asked the woman about the bulge in her pants, which led her to reveal the items, according to the police.

The woman was charged with theft and will face the local court of Hornsby later this month.

After posting about the incident on Facebook, the North Shore Police Command closed complaints that the woman may have been homeless and desperate for a meal.

"I can assure you that this was not the case on this occasion," the commando said on Facebook.

"We would never make light of the difficult situation of a person."

"At the local level, we have a series of specialized officers who are dedicated to providing help to someone who is homeless or in some way vulnerable."
