An emotional moment before the Los Angeles Dodgers took on the Baltimore Orioles saw Shohei Ohtani’s dog, Decoy, involved in the pre-game festivities.
At Shohei Ohtani’s Bobblehead Night, hundreds of fans were seen lining up to get their hands on the collectibles.
The Dodgers had 40,000 of these figures to give away to fans after selling 53,527 tickets for the game.
Video showed long lines around Dodger Stadium in the Chavez Ravine area of Los Angeles.
Those lines began to form hours before the evening match between the two clubs was set to begin.
Shohei Ohtani’s dog Decoy threw out the first pitch on ‘Shohei Ohtani Bobblehead Night’
Ohtani joined the festivities with a home run in his first at-bat of the night.
But once they got inside, they were in for a treat when Ohtani brought out his dog to “throw out” the first pitch.
Ohtani took Decoy to the mound, where a ball was waiting for the dog to retrieve.
Then, following Ohtani’s command, the dog picked up the ball and ran it toward the Japanese star, who was waiting behind home plate.
The night he was honored, Ohtani made sure those in attendance got to see some fireworks when he hit a home run to right-center field on the fifth pitch of the night facing the Dodgers.
The Dodgers won the game 6-4 over Baltimore, with Ohtani going 2-for-4 from the plate and scoring three runs.
