Rian Robbins, the passerby who made the chilling discovery, said she was suspicious about the package because there were flies buzzing around it.

“I walked by there and turned around. There were flies everywhere. And I saw what looked like a rib cage,” Rian Robbins told AMNY.

They were cleaning the building, so I thought maybe it was some old stuff they had thrown away.

Robbins said the body was found lying on what appeared to be a cart. “It was on a rolling cart that was tied to the thing,” Robbins said.

“It was big and swollen like it had been in water.”

Horrified onlookers inside the lobby of a nearby building also filmed disturbing video of detectives cutting open the body bag on the street.

Ted Oehmke, who also witnessed the officers opening the bag, gave gruesome details of what he saw to DailyMail.com.

“There was a hole in the top of the bag and what looked like the top of a head,” he said. “I’d like to say I was shocked, but I wasn’t. It’s a sign of the times, that’s all.”

“It looked like whoever did this went to great lengths to make sure it was wrapped up and exposed,” Oehmke added.

“But I was very surprised to see it lying there in the regular trash, as if the sanitation services were going to take it away.”

Authorities said the body had been lying on the street for some time because other residents had reported a stench in the area before Robbins.
