It can now be revealed how New Zealand Married At First Sight star Andrew Jury spent the final days before his tragic death aged 33.
The builder, who was one of the original boyfriends of the first season of the reality show giant’s New Zealand format, was in prison a few hours before his death last Thursday, according to the outlet. New Zealand Herald.
Juror Roy’s father told the publication that his son was in pretrial detention at the Mt. Eden Correctional Facility at the time and died just hours before a scheduled court appearance.
The Herald revealed the jury was “facing active charges including assault with intent to injure, wilful damage and possession of an offensive weapon” at the time.
They also reported that Roy Jury “was concerned about his son’s mental state” before the hearing and said he was “struggling” in prison after his April 2 arrest.
“It should have been a red flag when Andy stopped communicating with his family and friends.”
Mt Eden Prison CEO Dion Paki confirmed Jury’s death on the morning of June 27, despite the efforts of medical and emergency staff to save him.
Andrew was just 26 years old when he made his appearance on MAFS in 2017.

After his appearance on MAFS, Andrew kept a low profile and rarely shared details of his life on his Instagram page.
His last photo was posted to his grid on May 28, 2023 to commemorate his 32nd birthday.

This comes after Warner Bros Discovery, which broadcasts MAFS in New Zealand, revealed they have wellbeing protocols in place as concerns mount for the wellbeing of all MAFS stars.
“WBD takes its duty of care very seriously and has protocols in place regarding the well-being of cast and crew,” a company spokesperson said.
“All MAFS NZ contributors have access to mental health professionals throughout the process, including pre-screening, during production and after broadcast.”
