Australia’s biggest companies spent millions campaigning to get Indigenous Voice into Parliament, new figures reveal.

The big four banks, big mining companies such as Rio Tinto, BHP and Woodside and retail giants Wesfarmers and Woolworths invested more than $1 million each in the initiative to have The Voice enshrined in the Constitution in last year’s referendum.

Topping the list of corporate donors was ANZ, which contributed more than $2.2 million to the Yes23 campaign, but Commonwealth Bank, Wesfarmers, Rio Tinto, BHP and Woodside also contributed at least $2 million.

Westpac and NAB donated $1.4 million and $1.3 million respectively, while Woolworths contributed $1.2 million, according to figures released by the Australian Electoral Commission.
