GWS Giants AFL stars brought in Olympic breakdancer Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn and disgraced rap star P. Diddy in a ‘Wacky Wednesday’ dress-up performance that has left some players facing harsh punishments from the league, it was reported.

Several players at the club are facing suspensions or heavy fines after the team and the AFL confirmed they are investigating what happened at a post-season function in a private pub room last month.

The scandal arose after an anonymous complaint was made about the ‘Wacky Wednesday’ party over the clothing the players wore at the costume events and the skits they performed that night, which had celebrity couples as their theme.

It is now reported that one of the players who could be punished was dressed as Raygun, who became one of the biggest stories of the Paris Olympics.

Another star is reportedly in trouble after making a joke about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the American rap superstar who is in prison awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Approximately six players face suspensions for the game, according to SEN Radio journalist Tom Morris.

It reported that Giants Isaac Cumming and James Peatling are not among the players facing disciplinary action, and that the club’s stars believe the story came to light when the pub bartender complained, even though it is not alleged that nothing illegal has happened.

“One young player in particular, who allegedly made an ill-informed joke about P. Diddy, will receive the harshest suspension,” Morris said Monday.

‘A couple of players did a movie sketch, a player who will be significantly fined dressed as Raygun.

“I can’t imagine that player being fined for dressing up as Raygun, but who knows what actions that player did.”

Morris said the club found out about the scandal weeks ago, and that some of the stars found out about it a weekend before the AFL grand final.

“I’m told some of the players are rejecting the suspensions, believing it’s a private room, that nothing illegal happened. The AFL and the Integrity Unit have had time to consider it, digest it and investigate it,” he said.

“Given that around six players will be suspended and fines of up to $20,000 will be imposed, it would have to be suggested that there is more to this.”

The league and the Giants have confirmed they are investigating what happened at last month’s event, days after their season ended with a semi-final loss to premiers Brisbane.

“The AFL and GWS have been conducting an investigation into the Giants players’ post-season event, which is in its final stages,” the league said in a statement.

The AFL and the Giants have not confirmed what prompted the investigation or what action the league might take.

GWS issued a statement on Tuesday night, saying: ‘The Giants are aware of an anonymous allegation of inappropriate behavior at the players’ end-of-season function last month.

“The club and its integrity unit have been working with the AFL integrity unit to investigate.”
