Mark Jorge Gambill, 23, was discovered inside a closet in a home in Corona after being accused of killing a man on December 28.

This is the moment a California murder suspect was found and shot after he managed to hide inside a closet for nine hours while police investigated.

Mark Jorge Gambill, 23, was discovered inside a closet in a home in Corona after being accused of killing a man on December 28.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting at the home at 2:18 a.m. and found the victim outside with a gunshot wound.

Suspicion that Gambill had been hiding inside the house arose during the investigation when the Office of Special Enforcement arrived to search the house.

It is unclear if authorities previously searched the interior of the home before additional officers arrived.

Body camera footage revealed that armed officers soon found Gambill on the top shelf of a closet inside a bright pink room. The interaction ended when police shot the suspect and took him into custody.

The body camera video begins with several officers inside the home as they brandish weapons and search rooms.

They soon enter what appears to be a girl’s room painted pink with stuffed animals as they begin to whisper to each other and head towards the closed brown closet doors.

An officer says, ‘What do you want to do first?’ while two other agents stand in front of him.

“Go after him first,” one replies.

The officer with the body camera on raises his gun as another carefully opens one of the sliding doors.

Gambill was charged with murder and resisting arrest and is being held on $2 million bail.

The officers moved their weapons toward the closet and shined their flashlights inside in search of Gambill before moving to the other side.

The same officer then opens the other door slightly while dogs bark in the background.

The police officer then shines his light from the bottom of the closet to the top just before locating the suspect and shines his flashlight directly on him.

“Don’t move,” the police officer tells Gambill.

“Don’t move,” he repeats as the other police officers stand behind him with their weapons raised.

“Get out of there,” says the police officer with the camera on.

“Get out, get out of that room,” he says before he and the other officer leave the room while the other stands in front of Gambill with his gun still pointed at him.

The video then cuts to the hallway outside the bedroom before multiple gunshots are heard and one of the officers quickly enters the room.

Gambill was shot and officers provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived. He was then transported to a local hospital where he suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear why officers felt the need to shoot the suspect or if he had a gun when they found him.

The name of the murder victim has not been revealed, nor have authorities revealed the motive for the murder.
