CPR was given to the person in the vehicle after they were removed.

The crash apparently was unintentional, authorities said, but vehicular homicide units are on the scene investigating the cause of the crash.

Video of the incident showed several waiting room chairs in the emergency room destroyed before the car became trapped inside a hallway near a reception desk.

The emergency room was almost clear of people when the accident occurred, although staff were seen trying to remove one person from the wreckage.

The car’s tires can be heard screeching and its taillights are visible as the room fills with white smoke, with the car’s accelerator apparently still depressed.

At least eight patients in the hospital’s emergency room are being moved elsewhere to ease the workload on staff.

The emergency room can serve walk-ins, but is closed to ambulance access until further notice.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a statement on X about the tragedy Tuesday night.
