A 21-year-old man is lucky to be alive after two two-metre-long metal bars pierced the center of his body after falling from a multi-storey building.
The man, who is from India and has not been identified, had a stick through the left side of his chest and another penetrating the lower part of his stomach.
The injuries, described as “insurmountable” by doctors, shattered his hip bone, punctured a lung, penetrated his diaphragm and pierced his ribcage.
They narrowly missed the patient’s liver, heart and intestine.
A shocking video shows the moment when surgeons at Seven Star Hospital in Nagpur, central India, used a saw to cut the ends of each pole after resuscitating the patient.

The man fell while working, although no details of his work were shared.
The 44-second clip showed the man lying on his back in a hospital bed, some doctors holding each post and others cutting the metal rods with an angle grinder.
Each post was 16mm wide, about the same width as five pound coins stacked on top of each other.
Doctors said they had to cut the poles because they were too long to fit in the elevators going to the emergency rooms.
The hospital report said: ‘It was very difficult to remove the lower rod as it was firmly fixed and the patient’s (clothes) were fixed inside the bone along with the rod.
“The orthopedic surgeon had to hammer it in from the opposite side and they finally removed the rod with great difficulty.”

The hospital report said: “It was very difficult to remove the lower rod because it was well fixed and the patient’s cloth was fixed inside the bone along with the rod.”

The accident occurred while he was working near Azam Shah Chowk, Central Avenue, Nagpur, around 1.35 pm on August 19.

The man, who required respiratory support for two days, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and sent home earlier this month.
When they cut the patient open during surgery, doctors said “his hip bone was broken into pieces” and narrowly missed his heart and liver.
Despite cutting the rods before the procedure, doctors had to remove the machinery again during surgery because they were still too large.
Surgeons explained that the enormous size of the rods made it difficult for them to stand and operate safely.
