Terrifying footage shows the moment an Oregan man dodged death for a second as an out-of-control saw blade hurtled toward him across a parking lot.

Shane Reimche entered the Quick Trip Market in Eugene on Thursday, closing the door behind him only for the blade to embed itself in the wall, shaking the entire store.

The four-foot blade had broken loose from a nearby construction site and headed toward Reimche, picking up speed as it slid between cars parked in the parking lot.

“I mean, obviously it wasn’t my time, but probably the closest I’ve ever experienced,” Reimche told ABC News after the terrible experience.

“I was walking into the store, I put my hand on the door and I heard a loud bang and screams here in the corner,” he recalled.

‘Just as a cloud of smoke appears and I see a guy fall into the ditch and a four foot long sword swinging towards me.

“At the last moment I was able to hide behind the counter,” he explained.

CCTV footage from inside the store shows Reimche looking towards the parking lot, seeing the sword approaching him and quickly ducking to his left behind the store wall.

Surveillance footage also shows the walls shaking when the blade hits the wall, alarming those inside.

“We were behind the counter and the only thing I heard was metal rolling down the street,” said Amit Grewa, the store’s owner, who was serving customers at the time.

‘(I thought) It was just wind, suddenly we heard a loud bang. She shook the entire store.

The construction site from which the blade escaped was faced with a leaking gas valve at the intersection of Hilyard Street and East 24th Avenue.

The project was overseen by Northwest Natural Gas and two contractors, Brix Paving Northwest and Integrity Traffic.

“This incident involved a contractor at a NW Natural job site,” Northwest Natural Gas said in a statement.

‘We are reviewing our partnership with this contractor and have for now withdrawn him from further work for us. ‘

A contractor on site, who witnessed the incident, told ABC News that the runaway blade may have come loose due to a missing bolt or there could have been possible operator error.

“I had tears all night. It was petrifying. She was shaking in the store,” Remche said the next day.

“It took me a little while before I could speak. That thing was huge, you can see the hole in the wall.

Adding: ‘I’m grateful to be here. I was thinking maybe it’s my time, I don’t think I would have survived that thing touching me.
