A former football star was arrested last Friday morning after fighting with a group of teenagers on the train home from the MCG.

Former Adelaide and Melbourne star Matthew Collins, 47, watched the Dees lose to the Brisbane Lions before becoming involved in a heated altercation with the youths on the train.

Video footage shows Collins speaking to the group before attacking, knocking one young man to the ground.

The incident occurred at approximately 00:30 this Friday morning.

Channel Seven reports that such was the intensity of the altercation that a fellow passenger pressed the emergency button and Collins was arrested at Thornbury station.
