This is the shocking moment a ‘street takeover’ attended by hundreds of people ended in a burning inferno early Saturday in central Los Angeles.
The shooting occurred before 3 a.m. at the intersection of 18th and Main streets, according to preliminary reports from OnSceneTV.
Two vehicles caught fire in the middle of the intersection. KTLA News reported.
It is not yet clear whether the fire was deliberately set or whether the vehicles caught fire accidentally, the outlet reports.
When police arrived they confirmed that there were at least 50 cars present.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told KTLA that officers were initially sent to the scene because fireworks were set off.

Citizen reported that nNumerous vehicles exploded due in part to nitrogen tanks.
The chaotic scene had at least 400 to 500 people blocking access to the street, with reports that the takeover may have involved racing vehicles, according to the Citizen mobile app.
The report stated that police had requested additional units to divert traffic at the scene and ensure public safety, while emergency services were working to contain the fires and control the crowd.
Police have requested two tow trucks to remove the burned and wrecked vehicles, according to Citizen.
The incident was being investigated. As of Saturday afternoon, it was not yet known if anyone was injured or suffered any injuries.
During the terrifying scene, traffic was reported to be moving near the burning vehicles, with some motorists honking their horns while others drove by as if nothing had happened.
