According to The Sun, the owner, believed to be 12, tried to chase after the tan Staffy mix as he attacked the horse.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘At approximately 4.50pm on Friday August 18, two mounted police officers were carrying out routine duties in Maroon Street, E14, when one of the police horses was bitten by a dog who ran away from a nearby house.

“The rider of the horse, a police officer, was knocked off his horse and suffered minor injuries. She did not need hospital treatment.
