The shocking moment a bull shark began feasting on a crocodile just meters from shore has been captured by terrified beachgoers.
Two women walking on the beach in Nhulunbuy, a remote village on the Gove Peninsula in the Northern Territory, filmed the horrific scene this week.
They began by filming the crocodile lying face up on the shore before a shark suddenly emerged from the water to sink its teeth into the carcass.
The shark put the crocodile back into the water and gave it a big bite.
The carcass slowly moves away as the now well-fed shark disappears underwater.
The video has shocked Australian and international viewers, who were shocked and shocked by the graphic scenes.
“The crocodile is already dead, so there’s not much to see,” said one unimpressed local.
Shocking video filmed in a remote Northern Territory town captured the moment a shark emerged from the ocean to feast on a dead crocodile.
“That’s why I’ll never go ankle-deep on the beach,” said one viewer from the United States.
“The shark was almost out of the water, there was no longer a beach for me,” added another foreigner.
“As Australian as it gets,” said a fourth.
Nhulunbuy, in the Arnhem Land region, is the fourth largest town in the Northern Territory with a population of 3,267.
It is not uncommon to see crocodiles and sharks mixing, as they share much of the same diet.
Seeing them face each other is a little weirder.
Marine biologist Lauren Sandeman said both animals are opportunistic predators, which could explain why they could see each other as food.
“They are marine predators and are also opportunistic, so they will eat what they can, when they can,” Ms Sandeman told YahooNews.
