A Rio de Janeiro school principal was dragged along the street after asking a driver to move from a school parking spot.
Surveillance footage from June 18 was made public for the first time Thursday and shows the driver of a pickup truck parked near the school’s sidewalk before Raquel Schwab walked toward it.
The driver puts the car in reverse and stops briefly while Schwab engages the woman behind the wheel in conversation about parking regulations.
The director can be seen talking to the woman for about 45 seconds before she begins to slowly walk away.
The driver accelerates as Schwab clings to the door with his hand trapped in the window and is nearly hit by a vehicle coming in the opposite lane.

She then crashes to the ground as her husband runs to help her. Somehow, he also managed to stop the driver from escaping.
Schwab told a Brazilian news outlet G1 who has asked the driver to move, but decides to ignore his request.
“I spoke to her twice from the backyard and she pretended she didn’t hear me, so I left,” he explained. “She seemed nervous and rolled down her window partially. I stood in front of her and put my hand on the window.”
To avoid being hit by the oncoming car and falling to the ground, Schwab said she tried to move her feet in time with the car.
“Instead of slowing down, he accelerated. It was a shocking situation for those who saw it,” he said.

The school principal was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she received stitches for a head wound and was diagnosed with a fractured foot.
Schwab hit his head on the ground and lost consciousness for a short time.
She was rushed to the Evander Freire hospital, where she was treated for a broken foot. She also had visible bruises on her body and had to receive several stitches on her head.
The incident sidelined Schwab from his primary duties for several weeks.
“Even though I was worried about what could happen, I had to go back. At no point did she (the driver) worry or ask me how I was doing,” she said.
“It was a trauma for me and my family. I couldn’t even shower alone and I still have difficulty moving.”
