According to prison data, Shaw is a former prisoner who has served in prison for theft from a house.

An information officer from the police station said the officer was following a good training in stopping Shaw, even though he had unloaded his service weapon on a highway and then ran into traffic, such as Tulsa World.
The officer who killed Shaw said that if he did not shoot, more pedestrians would have been put at risk.
The officer was on administrative leave from Tuesday and will be identified after an investigation by the Tulsa district prosecutor.
