Spencer Leniu was reportedly on the receiving end of a derogatory comment during the Las Vegas game last week.
But he has chosen to keep the nature of the comment, and the person who allegedly said it, secret.
The footy world has been in shock ever since Brisbane Broncos star Ezra Mam accused Roosters rival Leniu of calling him a ‘monkey’ during their match at Allegiant Stadium last week.
Leniu faces the NRL tribunal this week to learn his fate after pleading guilty to the charge.
According to News Corp, Leniu first received a derogatory comment from a Broncos player before directing his regret at Mam.
Spencer Leniu was allegedly the victim of a derogatory remark in Las Vegas
The alleged remark is believed to have been made before Lenius’s ‘monkey’ treason against Ezra Mam
However, he will not ‘talk’ to the alleged perpetrator.
“He was brought up on the streets of Mount Druitt and they have this thing where you just don’t cheat and don’t dupe anybody,” Phil Rothfield told Fox League.
Elsewhere, Mam reportedly rejected the possibility of a face-to-face apology from Leniu last week.
The Courtier Mail reported that Leniu offered to pay for his own flight to Brisbane to meet the young gun.
The Roosters had held talks about plans for a formal meeting. Mam’s mother was also aware of Lenius’ offer, she is an Indigenous elder and played a key role in the Deadly Choices program in Queensland.
Man, said to be in tears after the match, remains angry over the incident and refused the olive branch.
He had been willing to testify against Leniu before the Roosters star pleaded guilty on Thursday.
