Mustafi searches for former boss Unai Emery and talks about his lack of ability to unite them
“He looks a bit like a professor,” Mustafi said Sky Sports News.
“He knows exactly where he wants the players to be when he is on the ball and how to react if he loses the ball. It is very special.
“When I succeed, I’m usually only focused on where to be when we lose the ball, but he wants me to contribute offensively too. So we have to constantly make an option for the player on the ball.
“If you are 28 and you play with different coaches in different countries, you think you know everything, but then he came in and there are things I never knew.”
Mustafi believes that Arteta has made a remarkable difference to the Arsenal squad, bringing together all 25 players – including teammate Mesut Ozil.
“Sometimes we don’t realize how difficult it is,” he says. “Of the 25 players, maybe 20 agree with the coach and five still think we should play differently.
“Since Mikel came in he has 25 players on board and that is not easy to realize.
Everyone understands and everything he says makes sense. There is nothing to complain about. Everyone benefited, even Mesut. ‘

Emery and Özil had a difficult relationship – and the Spaniard has opened up to the situation
However, Unai Emery spoke to Sportmail and felt that he was not getting the right attitude or dedication from Ozil.
“I did my very best to help Özil. Throughout my career, talented players have been my favorites and have played with me at their best or near best, ”Emery said.
“I was always positive about him because I wanted him to be involved, but then the attitude he took and the level of dedication were, well, they weren’t enough.
“One of the captains may have been Ozil, but the dressing room didn’t want him to be a captain. His devotion was not that of someone who deserved to be a captain. ‘
