‘I’ve had my teeth straightened and the fat drained from my arms and legs; I thought doing my boobs would make my husband like me more then, but I was doing it for all the wrong reasons.’

She added: “You have to love yourself first. That’s my message to every woman.”

In 2019, Shirley warned women to avoid boob jobs after undergoing a grueling procedure to have her DD breast implants removed following a cancer fear.

The star went through a four and a half hour procedure to get back to her natural A cup.

In a subsequent interview, Shirley urged women to do their research before undergoing the procedure, admitting that she thought her ex-husband, Corky, who she divorced in 2007, would find her “more desirable” if she had the DD. had implants.

Shirley told The sun: ‘Do your research on the implants. I didn’t do mine. I thought putting them in would make me look better and my husband would find me more attractive.

“I made this choice many years ago without understanding what I was really doing, except telling myself I didn’t look good enough.”

Shirley went on to explain that she spent a grueling four and a half hours under the knife removing her implants, and said she was happy to be back to her natural size.

In her new interview with Prima, Shirley also discussed her relationship with boyfriend Danny, whom she met during pantomime rehearsals for Jack And The Beanstalk in 2018 in Darlington.

She said, “My relationship with Danny has changed my life. He’s very different from anyone I’ve been with before.

“First of all, he’s six feet, he’s the tallest man I’ve ever dated, and I love his jet black hair. He is also very nice and very caring – he is always there for me.

“I hope one day he will propose, but he never married and I think he’s a little nervous about it, so we’ll see. Come on, Danny!’

Shirley has previously said that Danny fully supports her decision to have her breast implants removed to significantly reduce her risk of breast cancer.

She said last year: “He has been a huge support. I couldn’t have made this trip without him.

“It’s a pretty hard decision to make and it took me a couple of years. It’s definitely something that runs in the family.

“This is the first time I’ve gone into the winter that I haven’t gotten sick. I made the decision that I would take them out. They were apart, they felt uneasy, they felt heavy.’

When asked if going back to her natural bust size has affected her body confidence in any way, Shirley said that while she’s always struggled with insecurities about her curves, she feels happier than ever.

She said, “Well, I guess you can’t always rely on what you see. I have struggled with physical problems all my life. Since I can remember. I have a round figure. I’m not sticky.

“What I’m learning now is to love yourself and how you are and how you are made.”

With Prima, Shirley also addressed this year’s series Strictly: ‘I’m learning to be more myself on the show.

“That’s what my son Mark said to me: I have to drop the walls, because people can see it if you’re guarded. They see right through it, so I might as well be the real me.”

Shirley is mother to Mark, 35, from her marriage to ex-husband Corky Ballas.

She also discussed pursuing her goals and focusing on her career, saying, “I’ve felt very alone in the past. If I had a career goal, I’d build a wall around me as a coping mechanism and a way to drown out negative voices.

“I don’t think that’s a very healthy thing to do — it certainly has had an effect on both my marriage and my friendships.”

The January issue of Prima will be on sale from December 2.
